Invitation to CONFidence 2013 IT Security Conference in Krakow May 28 - 29

We would like to invite all the members of the hackerspace to the next edition of the international CONFidence IT security conference on the 28-29 of May 2013. Please share this information with people that might be interested in attending the conference. CONFidence is much more than just lectures. It’s also professional workshops, discussion panels and the opportunity to meet interesting people in the Hackers’ Squad. The unique laidback atmosphere of the conference itself and the after party makes CONFidence a special place for meetups and discussions for IT security specialists around the world. What is CONFidence? The first CONFidence conference was organized in 2005 as a project created by a group of Polish enthusiasts committed to improving the security of IT applications. Since those early years it has evolved into the largest meeting of hackers in Poland that annually gathers almost 400 participants: IT security professionals from government, industry, banking sector and academia as well as researchers and developers. What topics will be touched on the conference? Some topics that the conference will address: • 3G/4G, SS7, WLAN, RFID, Bluetooth Security • Analysis and reverse engineering of malicious code • Analysis of vulnerability, attacks and defence against networks, hardware, software • Virtualization and operating systems security • Data recovery, Forensic and Incident Response • Physical security • Firewall technologies • Web applications security and cryptographic What happening? X-traction Point – second encounter Just like during the previous edition of CONFidence we will deploy the X-traction Point game. The conference attendees had the chance to become a real live secret agent whose task was to infiltrate a bunker, bypass the security and free the hostage. This year we are also planning a frontal assault on the bunker, where you will have to present your sharpshooting and lock picking skills and skills in bypassing and hacking alarm systems. The well known and loved conference venue We already know the location of the conference and it will be held in the same location as CONFidence 9. This year we plan to dive into even more underground style. The vast space, brick fort-like buildings, overhead cranes, the old locomotive and other installations create a unique atmosphere ideal for CONFidence conference. Buildings of historic water pumping station in Bielany belonging to the Cracow water service is a place which fits perfectly into the atmosphere of CONFidence, where in addition to technical lectures will prepare lots of attractions such as games, competitions and BBQ. Accommodation Like every year, also during the 11th edition of CONFidence you will be able to stay in a unique Hackers’ Squad – hostel (or group of hostels), booked only for the participants of CONFidence, where hacking and beer never stops! ahojte, chcete byt slavni, pripadne chcete anonymne sdelit svuj pribeh a meli ste to stesti ze se pocitacum, bastleni a vselijakemu hackovani venovali uz "pred revoluci"? Pripadne mate nekoho takoveho zajimaveho ve svem okoli? Radi bysme slyseli zajimave pribehy na toto tema, historky, uspechy, jake kouzlo to v sobe pro vas melo. Motorem teto iniciativy je snaha sdelit zajimave pribehy na toto tema knizni formou. Iniciator (kterym nejsem osobne ja) uz jednu podobnou knizku za sebou ma. Prozatim staci dat vedet ze neco zajimaveho na toto tema mate, mozna i trochu nastinit co konkretne ("Bastili jsme si podomacku elektroniku" "Meli jsme pristup k pocitacum tam a tam" "Prvni zarizeni toho typu v republice" apod). Bavilo by nekoho otestovat "lab on a chip" technologie? Myslim tim veci jako http://wetpong.net/wetpong/?page_id=115 nebo odkazy na https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/diybio/sM7CvT7_viA Nemate nekdo kontakt na nejaky vedecky pracoviste, s kterym by se na tom dalo spolupracovat? Ja je oslovim, ale potrebuju tip... nebo na nejakyho vedce, kdo se tim zabyva... S kamaradem z Berlina, ktery privede dva studenty loutkarstvi, bychom se chteli pokusit o loutkarske predstaveni nebo operu na takove mini-plose v podobe labyrintu, kde nechame trochu vetsi organismy interagovat (molekuly by byly taky pekny, ale asi bychom to neumely zvetsit s DIY technologiema).... Lidi z hackterie.org doporucili http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daphnia , ale mozna ve zverimexu se najde i neco jinyho.... Proste biotech operu (nejaky jednoduchy dej typu monsanto x diybio hackers nebo vigilie nad patentovanim genu) bychom prevedli na jednoduchou interakci organismu na PDMS silikonovou desticku s kanalky, mozna i barvou... Ahoj, den po Cryptofestu, v nedeli 2. 6. 2013, ve skolicim centru klubu SiliconHill (jo, presne tam co byl v Praze na Strahove Installfest), se bude konat Retrofest, akce po milovniky starych platforem. http://retrofest.cz/ Zatim prislibil ucast Pavel Tisnovsky s prednaskou u hudebnich cipech pro 8bity. Ja si strihnu Sinclair ZX Spectrum, predvedu originalni stroje s pripojenym harddiskem a mozna nahraju i neco z magnetofonu, protoze dnesni mladez uz za "retro" povazuje hry pred rokem 2000 a z nutnosti cekat 5 minut na nahrani gamesy by jim explodovala hlava :D Takze pokud jste nekdo nadseny retro smerem a chcete se taky necim pochlubit, tak mi dejte vedet. A pro ostatni tohle berte jako takovou predbeznou pozvanku. Hey people! I am Evelina, a co-creator of Dreamups.org - a platform of DIY solutions that aims at solving social/environmental problems. I love discovering great, creative makers who enjoy building and have fun meanwhile. And I am happy I have discovered Brmlab ! I visited your site, also facebook page and have become more curious what projects you are working on currently, what is your biggest interest and maybe sustainable creations are in your future plans? Android Development Series - Workshopy

Ahoj, po skončení série přednášek o vývoji pro Android [1], jsem naplánoval dva možné workshopy na procvičení znalostí z přednášek. Níže posílám popis obou workshopů a odkaz na Doodle [2], kde bych poprosil zájemce si zaškrtnout vyhovující termíny, a pokud žádný termín nevyhovuje tak info přímo na mě. Workshopy neotevřu dokud na každý jednotlivý nebude zájem alespoň 5-6 lidí kromě mě. [1]: http://brmlab.cz/event/android_development [2]: http://www.doodle.com/5uhsk7sk6q8ipkr6 Bugfixing Workshop => Workshop se zameri na fixovani problemu existujicich open-source Android aplikaci. Identifikujeme vhodne aplikace, ktere kazdy z nas vyuziva, a na strance jednotlivych aplikaci projedeme seznam hlasenych chyb. Nektere z nich se pokusime (ci uz spolecne nebo samostatne) opravit a poslat opravy zpatky autorum. Tj. workshop zamereny na praci s cizim kodem, standardizaci kodu, psani unit testů (pokud bude potřeba), testování a debugování. Further-development Workshop => Workshop zaměřený na vývoj a přidávání funkčností do existujícího projektu. Pro účely praxe v týmovém vývoji, přebírání exisutjícího kódu, používání Github (Issues, Pull Request, Wiki), vytváření dokumentace (Javadoc) a kontroly kvality kódu. Pro účely workshopu se práce rozdělí podle schopností a problematiky do více prací a ty budou rozděleny jednotlivcům nebo týmům. Example aplikace je zároveň zveřejněná v Google Play (Android Market), takže se budeme zabývat praxí správy aplikace v Google Play, podpory, nahrávání a vytváření nových verzí... D.
