Hello Mario,
I have IBM T61 that have same prob with GPU, but when I was lookin
on net, if heating in owen really helps, so yes, it will but as far
as I unerstand only temporary.
Problem is, that chip consists of bimetal and that thing have
tendency for microdamages because of chip overheating. Baking it in
owen will possibly melt matherials in chip and therefore it will
work for few days before damaged place breaks once again. Second try
to fix GPU this way will be useless because chip have tendency to
have wound on same place and then there is not enough materiall to
cure this wound again [and material structure is changing by baking
it].
If you want to sell notebook imediately to some pawan store, than it
is good dirty trick, but it will not help you after all and you will
loose a time.
Cheers,

No, I'm not ready for that yet, but it sounds like loads of fun,
and I'm willing to try it sometime :)

the graphics chip (Nvidia). I imagine that precision heat gun we
have with the soldering rework station in the lab would suffice?
I don't want to use the oven in the kitchen because it is for food
stuffs and also because the temperature, as I've read, can
fluctuate radically. Perhaps we can hack together a technical
oven someday with precision temperature control :)

hold till we call Apple on Monday. Otherwise, we can perhaps meet
there sometime and try it? If not on my GF's mac, I'd like to
hack on some other failed Mac boards with the same problem.

have the same problem how to get some compensation for this:

Může někdo mi dovolte použít takovou troubu (univerzita?)? Myslím,
že 160-190°C, je stačí.

Can anyone let me use such an oven, like at a university? A range
of 160-190°C, should be enough.
