Hi,
thanks for the work. I totally agree, that the current state is chaotic an quite ineffective. I will be at the meetup today, and we can go through the things and check them physically.
I thing, the main problems are:
1. Storage, nothing should be left on the ground. => build/enlarge new shelves? reorganize things? 2. Too many things, many of them not working => You already started working on that ( I also stare significantly on number of crap^H^H^H^Hvintage computer lying everywhere:) 3. Some... discipline when working with tools. For example if something breaks, send e-mail, etc...
I am forwarding this to main brmlab mailinglist, so all people who are interestid can join the discussion.

Hi Everyone,
As we all know, Hardware lab is rather a "Bordel" Lab as we usually refer to it :)
There have been a lot of discussions recently but we did not progress much in actual change of it.
- Electric tools for Hardware Lab
Yesterday I checked all the electric tools that we have and discovered that a good half of them didn't work. For example we had around 4 ACUs there and none was working properly. I put them to "to be thrown away" status. I am not really sure what the issue is with them. Hence, if somebody wants to have a look and fix them it would be great. Otherwise, my proposal is to buy a new one. We have a Parkside ACU that is overheating a lot. I believe it would be great just to buy the same without the batteries. In such case it will be cheap.
Also, as we discussed before, it will be great to buy a good hobbyist vacuum cleaner. I found one that looks like a good option (fair price and big volume).
Another crucial electric tool that we are about to lose is a drilling machine. When you turn it on, its quite scary to see how the sparkles are going all over the place inside of it. So, I am not sure if it is safe to use it.
Hence, we have 3 things from electric tools that we need to buy:
- New ACU - Parkside from LIDL
https://www.lidl.cz/p/parkside-performance-aku-priklepova-vrtacka-psbsap-20-...
From what I see, this one can actually replace both drilling machine and
acu in one for 1990 CZK.
- New Drilling machine:
https://vrtacky.heureka.cz/einhell-bt-id-650-e/#prehled/ Here is a super cheap one for just around 600 czk.
- Vacuum cleaner:
https://vysavace.heureka.cz/fieldmann-fdu-2004-e/#specifikace/ Here, I found that is relatively strong (1400W) and fit enough garbage in one load (32L). Also, it doesnt need bags and can be used for both dry and wet cleaning. Price is 2160czk
- Furniture for Hardware lab
We received some of the tools from FUTLab and at the moment its just lying on the floor. It would be great to make either one big table (kinda longer than the one we have now) or put an extra one from a side. In my opinion it will be easier to make one. Also, it will be good to come up with some idea about the boxes for 3D printers. Rainbof @Ondrej Beranek rainbof@gmail.com offered a good idea of stacking few IKEA tables together to make it.
Hence, here are the things that needs to be agreed on:
- New table for Hardware lab. The one which will hide/remove all the mess
that we have.
- Tables from IKEA for 3D printers
So, what do you guys think? Is there a voting needed for all of that?
Lets make the Hardware Lab great again! :D
