Me dnes dorazi Mana, ale srovnavat to opravdu nechci…

When I first read this here http://www.joylent.eu/ I thought it was a joke. Seriously??? :( "Joylent is a powder that you add to water to make a meal that has all the nutrients you need."

Actually, is there any serious research behind this Joylent stuff? I mean other than one night of googling recommended daily intakes. Their website leaves strong 'hey, let's mix some dietary supplements and sell it as an food!' impression.
I'm not a nutrition expert, but it contains maltodextrin, which has pretty high glycemic index. Three large spikes of blood sugar level per day is something that most people want to avoid. Anyone who does an endurance sport (e.g. 50+ km trail running) will confirm that large blood sugar level variations are bad...
If you don't like to eat, you can even take one step further: parenteral nutrition!

I bought and consumed Nutridrinks for quite some time - simply because I was too busy to eat, or too lazy to go out (of office) or (usually) both. An hour saved everyday is just huge.
Many people don’t eat breakfast because of time constraints. Many people don’t eat anything between lunch and dinner. Eating and then working is sometimes worse than not eating at all.
I love good food (hard to find any, though), but there’s no reason to have good food everyday, or twice a day - I go out on weekends and eat steaks and stuff at restaurants if occassion arises, and I enjoy it. That doesn’t mean I can’t just “replenish nutrients” during the day, and if it takes no time and doesn’t make me sleepy - great.
Let the hippies gather fresh herbs every day, some of us are too busy and have precious little time.
And there will come a time, when having a steak will be a luxury, because there simply won’t be enough (sustainable) food for everyone. You offer no solutions.

I certainly do offer a solution... hack your life! What is it when one doesn't have time to properly feed oneself in a 1st-world country? As soon as it happens, one must question what is going on. It is NOT the norm as the site proposes. And if you think I'm a hippie, I'm not. I just know that we have way too many worthless green lawns when we should have gardens. The city tends to fruitless flower beds and bushes when they can bear herbs, fruits and vegetables as well--same with home owners. There needs to be a paradigm shift in thinking. Yes, we are doing things wrong, and this isn't the solution. It is rather supporting the wrong way we are heading--to zero! We continue to state that the world is over-populated, so government takes it in the ass and turns to Monsanto. It's the same elitist FUD: Problem, Reaction, Solution
I'm stating it now before it attempts to snowball in the minds of hackers. The film Solyent Green debuted in 1974 as a food-"big brother" film. Only the writers were a bit off. It won't be meat-based (people). It'll be Monsanto running to the solution from all the panic that was truly seeded in far in advance.
These pathetic drinks are nothing new. What might be new is their attempt at gaining mass, maybe worldwide, appeal. I say die.

I would like to hack life so that one would never have to eat or sleep. I know these things are necessary, so I get it that people want to make them pleasant. But if they were not necessary, would many people start doing them?

I can't do this.. I have no time.. I must .... just fucking excuses.
You can choose, being healthy or being lazy. All this powder foods and nutridrings are for people who can't eat or have some serious problems. It helps you survive but not healthy for every day use.
If you are sleepy after lunch, don't eat garbage.

Or, for example, buy a blender for your workplace. I think I saw brand new starting 400-600CZK. Throw some fresh stuff from the local shop, and you have a much healthier approach to convenient than processed dust. Still I insist, being rushed when you eat indicates there are other problems in one's life. Work should be a healthy low-stress place, not a workplace that doesn't respect the individual taking time for oneself. Sure, it happens that days suck, but how many are tolerable? As I already mentioned, when it starts with just one, start monitoring. That isn't normal. In that case, don't change your eating habits, rather change your job.

I think the mistake you are making is that everyone wants to live the same kind of life. Where to live happily, you want to be reasonably relaxed, not stressed, spread your work well and evenly, take care of your health and enjoy your meals.
Not everyone is like that. Actually the majority probably is, but not everyone. Some people need to be stressed a bit, overloaded by work and work in crazy bursts to feel happy! They will work like crazy for three weeks and then procrastinate for another week or four. And when they are in a burst mode, they certainly won't be interested in taking a 2 hour break for a nice meal and go collect herbs from the front of their house.
These nutrient thingies can be a great thing for them.
Maybe you think these people don't know what life is about and how to properly enjoy it. They will probably live a shorter life and be sick more often on average, and maybe even depressed more often, but they can't live in any other way - at least in some period of their life. And after all, how they live their lives isn't really any of your business. ;-)

Seriously, I have really no idea what does this have to do with Joylent. The Joylent makers are monopolists in a country where no other food is available?

Yes, their whole web presentation is WTF.

Judging by their website I think they have no idea what are they doing :). That's why I think that using it more frequently than an occasional snack (like people eat candybars) is not good.
