Dear all,
you are receiving this email because you were identified as developers of open-source projects relevant to the activities of the European Space Agency.
We would like to inform you that the European Space Agency has just launched an initiative to foster and support the development of open-source space-related software. The initiative closely models Google's Summer of Code program: ESA will select 'mentoring organizations' developing open-source space-related software and pay students to work on these software projects over the course of three months (August-September-October 2011)
You can find detailed information on the initiative at the website:
http://sophia.estec.esa.int/socis2011/
Please keep in mind that you only have two weeks (from the 1st July to the 15th) to apply as a 'mentoring organization'.
The initiative is a pilot program run by the European Space Agency's Advanced Concepts Team. Please feel free to circulate this email to anyone who might be interested in the initiative.
Best regards,
Francesco Biscani Research fellow at ESA's Advanced Concepts Team (francesco.biscani@esa.int)
